Sarah and Phoenix's Tips and Tricks When Making Lamb Rista

  • When you're mixing and kneading your meatball mixture, you want to make the consistency as smooth as possible. This helps your mixture to stick together and will mean your meatballs hold their shape once you've got them cooking.

  • When it comes to peeling ginger for your mixture, use a spoon to peel the skin off rather than a knife or peeler. It's a lot easier (and safer!)

  • Rolling the perfect roti might sound like a tough task, but the key is practice, practice, practice! You'll want to use your palm to flatten the dough into the roti shape, and once you're rolling, let the roti move in a circle to make it nice and even.

  • Be adventurous and try as much as you can! Through the array of spices and vegetables included in the recipe, you're also able to sneak a bunch of nutrients and antioxidants into family's meal — bonus!

Why This Lamb Rista Recipe is Perfect For Your Little Ones

  • While it's full of different aromatic flavours and spices, Sarah's Lamb Rista recipe only calls for mild chillies. By dialling down the chilli level, you're guaranteed to still get a great depth of flavour while ensuring that kids of all ages (and palettes) will enjoy tucking in.

  • From forming the meatballs from scratch to rolling out the roti and squeezing fresh lemon juice, there's lots of opportunties for the kids to get involved and get their hands dirty — without you having to worry about the little ones being around sharp utensils or hot pans.

  • Take a cue from Phoenix — it pays to be adventurous and try new things! Not only is Lamb Rista hearty, comfort food; it's a dish that also allows kids to experiment with different flavour profiles early on. A win-win for everyone!
